About Home Grown Happiness
We are Josie and George, a local couple with a background as mental health professionals. We have a long term interest and passion for local and naturally grown food.
We run a regenerative market garden at the edge of the village of Treuddyn in Flintshire.
Our produce is grown in permanent no-dig beds,
cultivated without synthetic chemicals, machinery or tillage, and is supplemented with locally sourced seasonal produce before being delivered to you in our veg boxes.
Our mission is to share the well-being impacts of growing and eating fresh, natural produce with the local community.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do the veg boxes include?
All of our veg box sizes include potatoes, carrots and onions, as well as a mix of local, seasonal vegetables and salad items.
The best way to find out the contents of our upcoming veg boxes is to sign up for our mailing list here, and we will email you the week before.
Our small veg boxes include 5-6 items in small quantities (suitable for 1-2 people), our regular veg boxes include 7-8 items (suitable for 3-4 people), our large boxes include 8-10 items (suitable for 4-5 people) and our extra large boxes include 8-10 items in larger quantities (suitable for 5+ people or true veg lovers!!).
Are the veg boxes organic?
We are not registered organic, due to the cost as well as the red tape involved (e.g. we would not be allowed to use local well rotted manure when preparing our veg beds). However all of the vegetables we grow ourselves are grown without the use of artificial pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers.
We consider ourselves ‘regenerative’ in our growing practices, which in fact goes above and beyond the standards set by the Soil Association to register as ‘organic’. Regenerative agriculture aims to reverse degradation of the land rather than maintaining it, in other works we aim to leave the land in a better condition than that in which we found it.
Do you deliver to me?

How much do your veg boxes cost?
Our small veg boxes cost £10 and include 5-6 items in small quantities (suitable for 1-2 people), our regular veg boxes cost £15 and include 7-8 items (suitable for 3-4 people), our large boxes cost £20 and include 8-10 items (suitable for 4-5 people) and our extra large boxes cost £25 and include 8-10 items in larger quantities (suitable for 5+ people or true veg lovers!!).
All costs include delivery either to your home address or to one of our collection points.
What if I don’t like an item of veg in my next box, or I would prefer a box without potatoes?
Please just get in touch with us and we will try to help! Alternatively when you order your veg box please write in the ‘notes’ section the item you would prefer to swap, e.g. ‘no potatoes’.
As we are a small, local business rather than a national company we are always happy to change items in your box for others that we may have growing at the time.
What if I am unhappy with my box/an item of veg is not of the quality that I expected?
Please get in touch with us if this is the case and we will do our best to help.
Although we are careful to sort through the veg prior to packing it, occasionally our ‘quality control’ may miss something! If this is the case we would be more than happy to replace the item or give a full or partial refund on the cost of your veg box.
